Fell Update – June 2013

Fell Update June 2013

 Monday Evening Fell Runs:

Finally managed to get these underway with 6 people turning up at the first one, 5 at the second and 8 on the third.  The next two weeks are going to be:

 10/6    Pinchinthopre visitors’ centre 6pm

17/6    Gribdale car park 66.30pm

Not quite sure yet what the route will be on the 10th (please note the 6pm start for this one) but for the 17th I thought that we’d do the Gribdale Gallop route, for those who may want to do the race in July.  It’s 7.1 miles, which isn’t much further than we have been running, but there is a bit more ascent so will probably take us around 75 minutes.  Please keep checking the site and the club Facebook page for further updates and feel free to email me to ask any questions.

 Race updates

 Carlton Challenge

Top NYMAC runner was once again Brendan Anglim in 11th, closely followed by Kev McLoughlin in 12th.  Bryan Saysell in16th and Gary Burnip in 39th brought the A team home in 3rd and Paul Levett 44th, Mark Edwards 48th, Ian Wanless 57th and Doug Welsh 70th qualified a B team in 8th.  Bob Howe 77th narrowly missed out on victory in the M65 category and Mike Shaw 83rd, and Georgie Hill (our sole female runner) in 67th completed a good overall turnout.  Good runs all.

 Levisham Limping

Julian Barwick continued his excellent run of form and was first NYMAC runner home in 12th and also claimed first prize in the M50 category.  Mike Shaw 40th and Paul Lyons 41st stepped in as counters for the A team who finished 5th as Bryan Saysell 45th and Kev McLoughlin 47th felt that the normal route wasn’t long enough so did an extra loop!

Fell Championship Latest

Just the one counter last month which was the Hardmoors 110.  I’ve had a look at the results but can’t see any NYMAC runners on there, please let me know if any of you did it.  The next two counting races are the Ossy Oiks and the Osmotherly Phoenix.

 Reports

Just a reminder for people to send any reports about fell running (particularly if you have travelled to do one) to me or directly to Jeff Belt at the club and we’ll put it on the site or the next update depending on what you prefer.

Thanks
