Cardiff 10k – 6 September

We were down in South Wales at the weekend so I wasn't able to run the Boro' 10k but in compensation , I was 'allowed' to enter the Cardiff event. In case anyone else ever finds themselves down there, here are a few comments on the race:
* The course – very high pb potential if you're up for it. The route is flat as a pancake, from its start outside the University, past the Castle and Millenium Stadium into Pontcanna Park and Sophia Gardens before finishing back at the Uni.
* Organisation – higher profile than the Boro' race, started by Jamie Roberts of Welsh and Lions Rugby with around 4-5000 entrants and excellent organisation. A high quality, British field too with Race Winner, John Beattie, crossing the line in 29.11.
* Any dreams I might have had of a result in the V60 category were shattered by 62 year old superstar and World Record Holder, Martin Rees who took 59th place in one of his slower times of 33.17. I was just under 9 minutes behind.
A good event if anyone's ever down there.
