500 for Eddie

We had a good club turnout at Stewart park for Eddie’s 500th parkrun, Eddie arrived at the start line wearing his red 50 t-shirt and we said it needed an extra zero on it.

This fantastic achievement also merited Eddie being awarded Stewart parkrunner of the month, reproduced with permission are the lovely words from the run director:

January’s Stewart parkrunner of the month is Eddie Meehan. According to statistics kindly provided by Alan Guy, Eddie ran his first parkrun at Albert Park in June 2008 in a time of 22:48. He has run 18 different parkruns with 196 completed at Albert and 273 at Stewart. He also has his purple 25 volunteers T-shirt, having volunteered 29 times. Eddie is a fantastic supporter of parkrun in general and Stewart parkrun in particular. Not only has he run and volunteered, he has helped us out by making signposts for us and advising and assisting on alternative routes when ice, floods or other circumstances have made Route A too tricky to follow. We were immensely proud to be able to announce Eddie’s 500th (yes, you read that correctly – 500th) parkrun this morning. Bearing in mind he started in June 2008 and has had 29 volunteer weeks, he must have been out pretty much every Saturday in past 10.5 years!!! A fantastic achievement. Thanks for celebrating with us as well as your Nymac and Swift-Tees friends. What a fab morning! Here’s to the next 500, Eddie 🙂
