COVID-19 Statement

Club Committee’s statement 16th March 2020:

We have been monitoring the Covid-19 situation and associated government advice in recent days, and until now have been able to avoid any interruption to our activities. As you may know, a number of races have been postponed, including the London marathon. However, today’s announcement puts things on a different level. The committee has discussed our response and the following action is proposed:

Postpone social events, committee meetings, the AGM, and probably the May relays for the time being. Cancel training sessions including tomorrow’s planned track session. These are considered to be non-essential social interactions. However, we will keep the situation under review and await comments from England Athletics tomorrow. Of course we can still get out to train as individuals. As a club, we need to take this action to safeguard the health of our members.
