We had another very strong turn out in this year’s Tees Pride 10k, I counted 48 runners representing North York Moors out of the record breaking number of 2622 taking part overall. This event is now in its 5th year and has probably become the main target race on most people’s racing calendars. With such a flat (nearly) PB potential course and the great atmosphere generated from crowds of supporting people it’s easy to see why this race is so popular. Weather conditions were near enough perfect for racing with only a slight breeze being felt at some points on the course. As most people who know the race route the first 5k tends to be a little faster than the second making it a tough finish especially if you’re running off split timings. That said it’s still one of the quickest courses around and if you time things right you are always good for a PB. For the second year in a row Ian Hudspith of Morpeth Harriers was the race winner in a time of 30:08. First woman was Angela Hibbs of Chester le Street AC in 35:54. First runner home for NYMAC was Jim Bulman (32:11) who came in an excellent 4th place overall. Prolific racer Jim continues to defy racing fatigue by competing on what seems to be a weekly basis, It can’t be effecting him too much as he set a new PB for 10k. New recruit Mike Jefferies (32:48) was next for NYMAC also putting in a great run to finish in the top 10. 3rd team counter was Jon Skidmore (34:32) who has been doing a ‘Jim’ recently (running every race going) unfortunately he couldn’t quite match last years PB time of 33:50. Both Mike & Jon were nearly a minute quicker than their times 2 weeks ago at the Billingham 10k. The Men’s team finished a close 2nd place behind Morpeth Harriers.
Mens Teams: (unofficial) Jayne Parkin
(42:06) was our first Lady home (13th Lady overall) breaking her PB in
the process. Marathon runner Lucy Clough also finished with a PB in
42:25 (14th Lady overall) and Clare Lowe completed the ladies team in
42.44.
Other PB’s on
the day were Duncan Archer (first road 10K - 35:26), Dean Moore (36:05), Martin Murray (36:43), Nick Simmons (37:34) Jayne Harvey
(47.07) regards Jon Parker P.S. If anyone else ran a PB please email Rob to add your name to the list....
N.B there are a lot
of mistakes in the original results especially with team names (e.g. New
Marske Harriers was spelt 5 different ways!). This obviously affects the
team results so this spreadsheet has been corrected where errors have
been found. If you spot anymore then please
