The Wheeldale Tandem is a unique 28 mile race over the North York Moors, starting and finishing at Goathland. It consists of teams (of two) runners, where the team split up in the first mile with each member following different routes. They don't then meet up again until approx. the 20 mile mark, in this case at the Stape Village Hall, which they must leave and then finish the race together. NYM.AC athletes cleaned up the event this year with Simon Deakin and Ian Hodgson the overall winners in 3:59, Rob Bailey and Garry Burnip were 2nd in 4:15, Colin Wilberforce and Barry O'Sullivan were 4th and 1st Vets in 4:38. Cath Worth teamed up with Vince Thwaites to take the mixed team category in 4:42. Cath also competed in the Eston Nab race the following day and finished 1st V45 Lady too! |
